Action Champlain – who are we?
Action Champlain is a non-profit organization founded in 2011 by residents of the Township of Champlain. It was initiated by this group of residents in reaction to the first announcement of the cement plant project at the very same location, as the Village of L’Orignal and the surrounding population were already and still are affected by contaminants and nuisances of two heavy industries, a steel mill and a quarry.
Action Champlain advocates public policy approaches that reconcile economic development, quality of life and environmental protection in the public interest of the citizens of the Township of Champlain.
